ya know how i've been talking about

debate alot lately? well, i thought i would ask the question that i'm supposed to research, on my blog! so if anyone has any opinions PLEASE state them in the comments!!!!!!!!

ok, well i guess it's not really a question....it's more a point that i'm supposed to prove. (oh yeah, in case you haven't been reading my blog long, the subject of debate is women in leadership. i'm on the team that is for women in leadership.) anyway, the point i'm supposed to prove is that 'gender doesn't determine whether or not one is a good leader.' also, i'm supposed to find examples of bad leaders in both genders. we're trying to prove that leaders of both genders are needed. a quote i found that we are using in our debate is:

"The way a woman's brain works, with respect to making decisions, is significantly different from how a man's does. Men tend to be more "mechanical" in their processing, whereas women take more of an intuitive approach. By intuition, a woman can more often come to quick, ready decisions.
Men however, tend to critically analyse and go through a whole process when making a decision. Often, this amounts to the moment being lost, by the time the decision has been made. Of course, in the case of both men and women, there are always exceptions. Nonetheless, both types of leaders are necessary: someone who can act on reliable instinct so the moment isn't lost, and another who will perform lengthy analysis before arriving at a decision.
Furthermore, nature positions women for leadership roles by the ultimate fact that they are the cradlers of creation.
"

-Dr. Asquith Reid, Clinical Psychologist

i thought that was a very interesting quote. so we are trying show that quick decision-makers AND more analytical decision-makers are needed.

if anyone has any good ideas or points or just opinons, please share them! also if anyone has any examples of good OR bad male or female leaders, PLEASE tell me about them on the comments!!! thank you!!!

Hey Beth,

Not sure if any of this will help, but here are some observations I have heard or seen myself over the years. These comments are generic regarding bosses and such, so it doesn’t mean every single man or woman fits the following.

It seems that women in general would rather work for a man, rather than a woman. Women seem to be more temperamental with their moods changing (mood swings). Sometimes causing people to feel like they need to tip toe around them, for they are not sure how she may react to a certain thing. Men appear to be more readable as to what they may do and how they may react consistently with certain things.

Women are most often more emotional, which can be both good and bad. Whereas a man may not understand or take the time to show he cares about a situation or problem, a woman is more likely to do so. Yet a woman is more likely to allow her emotions to control her actions, than a man would. And example is if one ever gets on the ‘bad side’ of a woman they may stay there forever, even if she never says why or admits it. Whereas a man will often confront the issue, tell you exactly how he fells, you might even fight about it, but then it is usually over.

Respect and power is probably more easily achieved by a man, whereas sometimes it can make the woman become overly demanding to ensure she receives respect with the feeling of needing to prove she is able. Yet the man can sometimes use his power to harass women inappropriately. I find it is often interesting that at the same time women demand to be treated equal to a man, they also wish to hold on to the benefits of being the weaker vessel. The ole, ‘I want my cake and eat it too.’

Another thing is women are good at using their appeal to get what they want, and men are all too often sinful by giving attention to it. Inward and outward influences create good leaders. A mixture of the inward talk of the Spirit and the outward talk of wise people would most likely have most any man or woman lead well.
